Joe Biden Beats Donald Trump To Become 46th President Of The United States

Joe Biden has defeated his presidential opponent Donald J. Trump, securing his presidency with vice president Kamala Harris. Joe Biden won 290 of the 270 electoral votes needed, after flipping key republican states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and Georgia.

Donald Trump had a sizable lead in the aforementioned states early on in the election, but that lead diminished more and more as mail-in ballots finally started being counted. For the last 2 days, all eyes were on Nevada to finish counting the votes, as it was one of the key states that could have determined the election. Major news sources such as CNN had also predicted Biden with a chance of flipping Pennsylvania, which still had about 500,000 votes to be tallied Thursday morning.

Joe Biden also amassed the most votes for a presidential candidate in recent history. In 2008, Barack Obama earned 69,498,516 votes in the presidential election, the most ever. Now, Joe Biden has surpassed that tally, with a record 74,446,452 votes (50.5% of the total), and counting, in the 2020 election

It's ironic that in 2016, Trump supporters mocked democrats, telling them to accept the loss and yet here we are, in 2020 and the Trump supporters just can't take the L. Trump specifically said that mail-in ballots would not be counted on election night, but rather the day after. Yet, he is surprised when the votes are not in favor of him. It is nice to mention that Joe Biden recommended his supporters to mail in their votes because of the pandemic still happening, while Trump did the opposite and encouraged his supporters to vote in person. All lives matter, yet Trump supporters don't believe all votes matter. It is honestly hypocritical and embarrassing how Trump is unable to accept a loss, and is convincing his supporters that this year's election was unfair and that voter fraud was present.

I definitely support Biden over Trump. I do understand that Biden is not a perfect candidate, as he himself has done his fair share of inexcusable actions. I think I speak for most people when I say that Biden is the lesser of two evils. However, it is not enough to relax now. I predict that Joe Biden will not make as big of a change as we expect, as he is not that radical. We must continue our battle, and advocate for change if the Biden/Harris campaign fails to live up to its promises.
