This afternoon, while the Senate and House met jointly to open and count certificates of electoral votes from the 50 states and the District of Columbia, a mob of Pro-Trump protestors broke into the Capitol Building. The Senate stopped its proceedings with Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) interrupted by an aide who said protesters were in the building. The House doors also were closed.
The Capitol is currently on lock down, with a confirmed case of injury, a women who was shot in the neck and has been carried out of the Capitol on a stretcher. Although the National Guard was rejected at first, they are currently being rolled out to assist at the Capitol.
D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) imposed a citywide curfew as a chaotic scene worsened at the U.S. Capitol building. From 6 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday, Bowser said no one other than essential personnel would be allowed outdoors in the city.

Trump supporters on twitter were quick to spew allegations, claiming that most of the violent protestors were ANTIFA in disguise. This is disgusting, and clearly nobody from both sides support this. This altercation has also sparked renewed anger from people on the Left, who pointed out the difference in treatment from BLM protesting the Lincoln Memorial to the protestors breaking into the Capitol. This is a crazy turn of events, and President Trump is facing increasing backlash for his disinvolvement and inability to disburse the crowd.
