Cloud9 have decided to bench Özgür "woxic" Eker for reasons unrelated to the AWPer's performance, a report from Rush B Media states.
The 22-year-old's benching helps explain Cloud9's recent interest in ex-Chaos star Xeppaa, who was linked with a move to the blue banner in a joint report by HLTV.org and 1pv.fr
woxic has been part of Cloud9 since mid-September. He signed with the American organization in a deal worth nearly $1.4 million, a number that includes salary over three years and the buyout fee from his transfer from mousesports.
Currently, this is only a rumor, with Cloud9 yet to come out with a confirmation. If this is true however, this will be a big blow to the North American Organization's new project headlined by HenryG. Woxic will essentially be sitting out the next few years on the bench, as his absurd contract which was made publicly available will mean a hefty buyout fee for whichever team may want to get their hands on him. When woxic was benched in mousesports, rumors floated around that it was because of his negative attitude, although that was disproven by team leader Karrigan. Therefore, it seems very unlikely to me that woxic was benched for his attitude in this case, as throughout his short time in Cloud9, fans have seen his ecstatic and emotional side. With woxic potentially out, Cloud9 are in a bit of a pickle, as there is currently no dedicated awper, even if Xeppaa was to join the team's ranks.
