Cuomo will be looking at micro-cluster data to determine whether to relax or increase restrictions. Just over two weeks ago, governor Cuomo announced a set of restriction that was aimed to deal with the small outbreak in cases in Brooklyn and Queens.
This was of course met with pushbacks, specifically protestors in Brooklyn’s Hasidic enclaves who saw the restrictions as anti-Semitic. However, those restrictions seemed to have worked.
"In the week of Sept. 27 through Oct. 3, the coronavirus positive rate in Brooklyn’s so-called “red zone” was 6.69 percent. By Saturday, that figure had dropped to 4.92 percent" according to the NY Post.
“This is not rocket science,” Cuomo said. “It’s a virus. When you reduce congregate activity, and people wear masks, and people social-distance and you enforce it, you stop the spread of the virus. That’s how it works. That’s how it’s always worked. You just have to do it.”
Any changes in the restrictions will be announced this Wednesday, October 21.
